When I need a change of scenery, I always think of Florida. Though I have lived in Ohio since my teenage years, I grew up in central Florida and when I go back the scenery hits me with a strange combination of familiarity and foreignness.

I would love to visit every year if I could. We actually managed a trip there last February right before everything shut down, and I’m looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

The above photos are from Washington Oaks State Park, and the ones below from the beaches at St. Augustine. There is a lot of different scenery in Florida, and I enjoy it all.
Thank you for answering the challenge with these gorgeous Florida images. My favorite of these is the peaceful pond surrounded by all that green. I agree – there are many changes of scenery in Florida and I love all of it. I have lived just one state away from Florida for over 50 years and most years have made at least one trip to somewhere in Florida.

An excellent choice for the challenge. I love St. Augustine – and the nearby bird sanctuary is incredible. Loved your opening image.

Hi Mei-Mei, a friend of mine lives in Florida (she’s a coastal girl) and she told me about the region and it’s “wild life” and from these images I can well believe all the stories of critters and animals that live there (I knew of gators!) But the scenery itself looks amazing, to be able to go from parks and woods out a few miles to the coasts and dunes must be perfect.

Yes, there are some interesting animals, both native and introduced species! You’re right, that is an awesome aspect to have different landscapes so close together.
