When we moved into our current house, I was thrilled to discover that there were a multitude of bulbs planted in the front garden. Every spring I wait eagerly for the crocuses to pop up and signal the change of season.

I have given up growing tulips because it is too much work to keep the deer away, but one year I had great fun tracking their growth. Nothing brings hope so much as new buds and leaves in the spring.

Lovely Mei-Mei. Crocuses are a sure sign of spring’s arrival although sometimes they
Have to endure an odd snowfall now and then😊

Yes, very true. I always feel bad when they come up a bit too early and then get snowed on!

I am not a flower person but my Mum used to have very green fingers so I became appreciative of the flowers she loved to grow such as orchids. I’ve never heard of crocuses though, they’re so pretty 🙂

A pity that the deer keep eating the tulips, they are such beautiful flowers!

My mom has a “flamingo garden” in her backyard – a bunch of big flowers and shrubs and all that, with all manner of lawn flamingos scattered throughout. But it’s the same thing – the deer ALWAYS eat all the flowers XD. She tried to figure out a way around that for a lot of years. Finally she just gave up and decided she was feeding the deer and, if she couldn’t see pretty blooms when she looked out the window, she’d be content to watch the pretty deer eat as she had her coffee.

I admit, I do get excited to see the deer in my yard, too. I don’t mind when they eat my hostas, I have tons of those! haha
