Nothing like a trip to Pompeii, Italy to remind you of the fragility of human civilization. Even sturdy Roman columns can seem delicate compared to the power of a volcano; Mt Vesuvius destroyed the city in 79 AD.
You can find more delicate things at the original Lens-Artist challenge.
Hi there, I like this picture a lot. As you say it points out how insignificant we are compared to a greater power such as a volcano. However it also demonstrates how as a people we strive to build and reach for the skies….the towering pillars of Roman construction and the vapour trails of present day aircraft showing our technological achievements and aspirations to explore further. All in one picture, nice one!

Yes, if we compare…anything could be delicate and fragile. Interesting point.

It was a bit of a “bucket-list” thing for me, having wanted to go there since I was about ten, before I was aware of the term bucket-list.
