Weekly Photo Challenge: I’d Rather Be…

From Dublin.

I always feel at home in a library. Nothing so comforting as rows upon rows of books, and the library at Trinity College is particularly beautiful. Reading is my favorite pastime.

I’d also like to be in Ireland right now, which is a beautiful country with wonderful people. Plus it’s at least 10 degrees warmer than Ohio right now! I hope I’ll make it back there someday.

Hello Mei-Mei,

I love this photo and it makes me feel a little jealous at the same time…why? Well Trinity College Library’s Long Room looks very much like….the Jedi Temple Library on Coruscant! So much so that the college was considering taking action against Lucasfilm because Lucas didn’t have an agreement to use Trinity’s likeness!
I haven’t been to Dublin and I can’t return to Coruscant so don’t have pictures myself (hence my little jealousy 😀 ) but this website does have some pics to compare:

  Yes! I remember Kiri mentioning this before, and it was definitely in my mind when I was visiting. I’d love to visit the Jedi library, too, even if Jocasta Nu is so grumpy. 😀

    Sadly, I don’t think the Jedi Temple Library exists anymore – didn’t it get destroyed by the Starkiller base?

    Quick Edit! I just checked Coruscant is safe, it was four other planets in the Hosnian System that got destroyed. I really need to repair my ETA-2 Starfighter so I can take a trip back to the Star Wars universe 😀 !

    Yes I got slightly mislead at first. A lot of folks wrote online claiming Coruscant was the planet where Princess Leia’s aide is seen wide-eyed as the Starkiller laser approaches and destroys the city-like planet. I have read since then that it was four other planets destroyed but it’s still confusing, especially if you haven’t read the novels.

The Trinity Library is in a league of it’s own, compared to other libraries, but we had SNOW on St Patrick’s Day. Two days later, and it’s all gone, but it was something different.
