From Connemara.
We had the most excellent tour guide on our Vagabond tour of Ireland. Traveling small in the Vagatron (seen above) let us do all kinds of spontaneous things. For example, our guide simply pulled over on the side of the road in Connemara, and we all got out to look at a peat bog firsthand. I can’t remember which mountains those are in the background; there are a lot of mountains in Connemara. It’s a beautiful place to see up close.
Hi Mei-Mei, I just love these type of views. This one reminds me of my trip to Scotland and one particular route in the Argyle and Bute area. It is known as the “Rest and be Thankful” A beautiful drive but you have to be careful of landslide and rockfalls. Well, on my trip we had a stop along the way and got to view this scenery. But the reason we stopped was because the coach’s engine was on the verge of bursting into flame! Fortunately about an hour and a half later someone passed by who had enough water to give us to cool the engine down and we could finish our journey.

I felt like you brought me back to Iceland for a moment. The long blades of grass, and how most of it is yellowed instead of green, reminds me of how the grass looked in Iceland when I was there last year. And those mountains… Ah. They’re so majestic, and yet they bring a welcome sense of peace, I think.
What time of year did you visit Ireland, btw?

I always enjoy it when you relate the Ireland images to Iceland. I really must go there someday! I definitely found the scenery in Ireland to be peaceful.
This was early July, but I think the climate there is fairly similar year round? I thought it was a wonderful time to visit.
