So I won’t be seeing The Last Jedi this weekend, because having a newborn totally takes over your life. I hope to see it around Christmas, but I hope you all enjoy it now! I will be avoiding all your spoilery posts ๐
In the meantime, having the Little Jedi at home makes me ponder how I will eventually show him Star Wars, and here are Kiri’s thoughts on watching the Machete order of the PT and OT Star Wars movies, and why she thought it did not work all that well.
I doubt I will use Machete order with my son; it seems more likely he’ll see the current trilogy first, or whatever movie cartoons are tying into in a couple years. But honestly, I don’t think watching order is that important. If someone connects with the story and characters of any of the movies, they are bound to want more. That’s just how Star Wars is ๐
I did it. I watched 7 Star Wars movies over 7 weekends. You may be thinking, โReally? Thatโs a feat?โ
Yes. Why yes, it is.
I have a 19-month-old toddler. I run my own business and Iโm up early in the morning working and late at night working. We bought a new house that we have been working on. It is the Christmas season.
Dammit, yes, 7 movies in 7 weekends is a lot!
If you remember, I decided to prep for The Last Jedi by watching every Star Wars saga movie in the Machete Theory order.
To recap, I watched them in this order: IV, V, I, II, III, VI, VII. This is not the original Machete Order, but my version because I love TPM and TFA is a new addition.
I also tried to pretend I was watching these movies for the first time and beingโฆ

Congratulations!
Don’t worry, your son will most likely love Star Wars as you do. Four of my sons, so far, are enamored by Star Wars because of their father. Sometimes, the movies and the lore are part of our dinner conversations.
And if you cannot influence your son’s movie taste, the merchandising will. The light sabers are quite cool for kids. ๐

Thanks, Imelda. I’m looking forward to such dinner conversations in future years!

Hello Mei-Mei, just wait till you have to watch all 9 in a one weekender! (I did watch 1-6 back to back before The Force Awakens came out) And lightsabers are cool for big kids too! And congratulations on the arrival of “The Little Jedi”

Thank you ๐
My friends and I did 1-6 one time in college which was very fun. All 9 will be rough! haha

Mei Mei, I should warn you – Jar Jar returns in IX. And Bail Organa shows up as a zombie that floats around in the galaxy attacking First Order ships.
Whew, now that I got all those spoilers out of the way…
Thanks for reblogging my post! I realized yesterday that this new trilogy will have to wait a while. It’s too violent, including RO. I think I’ll start my kids on the TV shows and original trilogy and then go onto the Prequels and then the new Sequels.
Glad I figured that out.

Lol I totally ruined my joke by typing IX because that’s what’s been on my mind but I meant VIII. Darn it.

LOL! Reminds me of the joke “Why did the Star Wars films come out in the following order Ep.4, Ep.5, Ep.6 – Ep.1, Ep.2 and Ep.3? Because in charge of numbers Yoda was!”

I haven’t heard that before! Too funny!!

Oh I have a few jokes like that such as “What is the body temperature of a Taun-Taun? Luke Warm!” and a good one about an Ewok I’ll save for another day!

These are the best fake spoilers I have seen. ๐
Hmmm you make a good point, especially about RO which is def not a kids’ movie. Your strategy seems good to me, too. We both have some years to figure this out though haha. Who knows what new movies and TV shows will come out in that time.
