From Dublin.
I don’t particularly like Guinness; in fact, I would never willingly order any kind of stout here in the US. But I heard the rumors that Guinness actually tastes different in Ireland (specifically in Dublin at the Guinness Storehouse), so I figured I had to at least try it while I was there. I only got a half pint in case it was still terrible.
Guess what: the rumors are right. I actually enjoyed this Guinness, which managed to be smooth and almost creamy and not totally bitter like I’m used to. Some times experimenting pays off.
Hi Mei-Mei, as a former pub/bar entertainer I have had a few pints of the smooth black stuff in my time! I always think a drink tastes better the nearer to it’s place of origin/manufacture you are. I wonder if that applies to Colt.45 lager? I used to like that when it was available in the UK. (And I hope you experimented with your drink responsibly!)

I think you are right about drinks tasting better nearer to “home.” I’m not much of a beer drinker, so I only had a half pint; we were riding the tourist bus around, and definitely saw young people on it that had had a few more ~_^

My brother’s become a bit of a beer connoisseur. He likes to buy rare or foreign brands from a local gourmet market. I don’t know any of his favorites off-hand, but one name I distinctly remember is Dragon’s Milk. No idea what it tastes like, but I know he enjoyed it a lot!
Btw if I don’t talk to you again beforehand, have a Happy Thanksgiving, Mei-Mei!

I am the opposite of a beer connoisseur haha. My husband likes German wheat beers, and I can usually drink whatever he recommends. I would totally try a beer called Dragon’s Milk, though!
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well 🙂

Being a southern California denizen, my preferred beverage is Dos XX. But I too enjoyed the Guinness when I visited Ireland. Necessity is the mother of experimentation.

I’m not really much of a beer drinker at all, but I had some good cider in Ireland, too.

I enjoy beer when it’s hot. And it’s hot here a lot 🙂
I was dismayed to read the forecast for Thanksgiving day. 94 😦
That’s a lot of beer!

Oh my 94! Have a beer for me; it’ll make it up to 40 here if we’re lucky!

I love this post. I just did a few days on the Wild Atlantic Way and put a few pics up you might like. Only had my 50mm with me though.

Oh wonderful, I’m checking them out now. I only had my phone when I was there! I personally feel much more comfortable taking landscapes, etc, and I struggle in a street setting. I think yours still capture the place well 🙂
