I’ve been nominated for the Entertainer Blogger Award (which I find to be a rather awkward name—why not the Entertaining Blogger Award?) by The Well-Red Mage.  Thank you!  You can find his post about it here.  I’ve been following his gaming blog for about a month, and I can confirm it is indeed entertaining.

What do you hope to gain from blogging?

Mostly I just want an outlet for geeking out.  I hope to continue to gain blogger friends so we can all geek out together.  One of the reasons I started this blog was to get back into writing, so eventually I hope to write/publish fiction.

What genre of film entertains you most?

I think sci-fi has to be the obvious answer here.  Fantasy, too.  Anything with a little imagination, action, and maybe some romance is great.  I also love adaptations of classic literature, and the animated films from Disney and Ghibli are among my favorites.

Do you consider yourself a writer, and what inspires you to write?

I am definitely a writer and have been since my school days.  Mostly I just want to write down all the crazy ideas floating around in my head.  I get inspired by other great stories, whether in books, video games, or movies.  In a different vein, my husband also inspires me to write, because he says he wants me to write a best-selling novel so he doesn’t have to work anymore.  You and me both, sweetheart.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

I’ve mentioned several before.  In the lab, I still hate when people use things without asking, but I’ll also add: not putting things back they way they found it.  Maybe I just hate it when people touch my stuff haha.  Though to get a little philosophical, I think a lot of my pet peeves boil down to people not considering other people and their thoughts and feelings.  Empathy is so important.

Why did you choose your particular WordPress username?

This is something I cover on my About page because it’s important to me to explain it.  My real name is not Mei-Mei, and I am not Asian at all, but I’ve been writing under this pen name since high school.  I chose it as an homage to Meiling Li, my favorite character in my favorite anime, and also because “Li Meiling” was already taken as a user name on fanfiction.net haha.
