Well, if there’s a bright center to the universe, you’re on the planet that it’s farthest from. –Luke Skywalker
Here’s the next installment of our coloring book club! I thought this tessellated image was really weird at first (Jabba’s expression stood out to me as creepy), but it really grew on me as I was coloring.
It’s like layer after layer of Tatooine references: the twin suns (in red), the outline of Jabba’s palace (dark brown), Jabba himself (green, natch), the Sarlacc tentacles (shades of tan), and even the decorative dots around the outside reminded me of the twin suns in orbit (so I colored them red, too). Close up:
The only thing I did that I question is the blue in the center decoration. I was going to keep it earthy tones, but I got tired of using the same colors over and over, and I thought the blue looked good with the color palette. But it doesn’t really make sense thematically. Oh well.
You can check out Star Wars Anon’s cool 70’s inspired interpretation here. And if you’ve done your own, feel free to join in!
As for our next picture, I actually had a request for the cover image! But I will let Kiri decide: if that one will be too much work, I’ll pick something smaller.
I didn’t even notice that that was Jabba’s palace! Haha. I did get the references to everything else. I like that you interpreted the dots as the suns in orbit and that we chose similar colors for the sarlacc tentacles. I love your yellow spikes in the middle! It’s a good choice.

I love that one. Luke has a pretty dry sense of humor.
