From La Selva Ecolodge, Ecuador.
We found this visitor in our bathroom one night. The huts at the lodge are open-air (there is mosquito netting on the beds), so you really do feel quite close to nature. We also spotted a tarantula (or migala as they call them) in our hut on our first day, but thankfully one of the girls chased it away.
Nights in the rainforest are wonderful, full of interesting sounds. We took a nighttime hike one night, and another evening canoed around the lake looking for the bright eyes of caimans on the surface of the water.
